Passage

One classic a day. Every day, new lines from a classic book, chosen for you, with the story of who wrote them and when.

A look inside

Passage asks where you are in life: studying, working for someone, running your own thing, raising children, retired. — Tell it a little about your life, and the books you love.

The day's passage from Anne of Green Gables by L. M. Montgomery, with the scene above it and a piece of music to go with it. — Read the day's passage, with the scene that leads into it.

The writer and the moment: where Montgomery wrote the book, then a few lines on what the passage says to you today. — Learn when the writer wrote it, and what it might say to you.

The same passage in Lamplight, the app's dark appearance. — Paper by day, Lamplight by night.

Questions

Where do the passages come from?

From public-domain editions of classic books, such as those on Project Gutenberg, Wikisource and Standard Ebooks. The passage itself is never rewritten.

Who writes the scene and the notes around it?

They are written with AI (Anthropic's Claude), around the real passage. The words of the book are always the author's own.
